About Me

http://katandadls.blogspot.com/2010/05/blog-post.html

If I was a painting..it would be one of myself in absence. There would be three beautiful children, a lovely man called gary who I am married to. A small dog named Mango, who is a Cairn Terrier, some chickens, cats and two pet rats. My day is primarily taken up with the care of these. There would be some paintbrushes, a computer, a Bible and a very large oven looming somewhere, as I do a lot of cooking. The painting would have alot of tropical plants and bright flowers. Plants with big leaves that capture rain.It would have some hearts and cowboy boots.

About Me

Landscapes, wild New Zealand coastal scenes, native bush, high country tussock, stockmen, horses, mountains ... if it's remote & rural I love it. Only now, after many years & a 'herd of kids' have I decided to pick up a paint brush. What more can I say than I love it, I am getting great enjoyment & pleasure from painting. I am learning heaps & painting a great variety of subjects.

I regularly attend the Wayne Edgerton Borland Lodge art weekends & find these very rewarding. Not only do I gain valuable tuition from a very talented artist but I very much enjoy chatting &  mixing with like minded people. Next one is mid July.

I am currently preparing for my next exhibition where I team up with fellow artist Helen Scott for "Off The Brush". This will be at the City Gallery in Invercargill from the 31 Ausust to the 21st September.

If you are in Bluff, pop into The Lighthouse Gallery & check out some of my works.

Oils is my medium of choice just now although I am keen to explore water colour & pastels in the future.

About Me

I am hoping I can squeeze into being a member - despite being on the rim of the membership area - I live just out of Dunedin at Portobello. (But did my time teaching in Winton and teaching art at Longford Intermediate, Gore, many years ago so Southland always feel close to heart!)

In which area of visual arts are you involved?

I am primarily a printmaker and am attracted to working with processes that utilise light in the processing - photopolymer plate, cyanotypes, laser cutting and photostencil screenprinting. My art work is research based - usually with historical and nautical flavours. I teach alongside my making and some of my updates can be seen on my blog http://lynn-taylor.blogspot.com/  or facebook page http://www.facebook.com/lynntaylorartist

I have recently returned to ART full time - I am doing what I love the most - being creative. I was a Zimbabwe Bird, but am now a Kiwi Chick. Have had lessons from well established artists, but love experimenting with various mediums and techniques.

* Have had three pictures published for puzzles.

* Have written and illustrated two children's books.

* Have sold artworks for cards.

* Have sold works in South Africa and New Zealand.

* Have decided to start something new... so stay tuned!

About Me

I believe the world needs Artists.  As artists, our lives have more meaning and passion when we are creative.

We have set up Hanan Gallery at 130 Dee Street, Invercargill, above the Arts Supplies shop. Later this year we will have another room open for artists to use. I’ll keep you posted on progress.

The gallery used to be the site of James’s Hanan’s "Temple of Arts and Science", in the 1880's, where he held lectures.

Hanan had painted the twelve signs of the zodiac, constellations and stars on the temples ceiling. He described it as a place for, “self instruction and lectures on the most valuable branches of knowledge”. Visitors were lectured on geology, mineralogy, anatomy and astronomy. These lectures were illustrated by Hanan’s diagrams and specimens. He was a visionary and a character for his time.

This is a little known slice of local art history we promote. We have secured an original painting of Hanan's from the 1880's which we are going to display. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 11.30 – 5.30pm. We are also open on request, please contact us on 931 0443 or [email protected]

About Me

My work is about a show of warmth and understanding.

A sensitive genuine engagement with the subject.

Each drawing and painting shows what I admire and love to share.

They reveal and confirm my experiences.

Show my discoveries and reflection.

My hope is that they engage the viewer.

Translating my thoughts and visions into paint is a most personal revelation

and always a challenge.

About Me

Hi,

Have just moved to Dipton (following my heart) after seven years as the Education Officer at the Lakes District Museum & Gallery, Lumsden. My new job is the part-time Arts Co-ordinator at Fusion Gallery, building on the fantastic work of Michelle Wallis & the NSCAI by developing the gallery further.

I love to live in a world surrounded by beautiful things and I love being able to share my skills and knowledge to enable others to appreciate the beauty around them. (My other great weakness is travel - I love it and it helps to satisfy my curiosity. That's me in the green jacket descending Mt Sinai!)

I'm looking forward to getting to know Southland artists through Fusion Gallery.

In which area of visual arts are you involved?

With a severe lack of any artistic talent personally, I appreciate the skill involved in:

Painting, jewellery, sculpture, print-making, photography, textiles, industrial design, typography, fashion and any other creative medium you can think of...

About Me

I  want to support the Great South Artist's Network>  Recently I came and taught a workshop with a group of artist's headed up by Beverly Claridge's inspired networking and hospitalilty.  I would like to encourage the formation of this network and the larger networks in New Zealand.  This network reminds me of the fledgling days of Artist Alliance in Auckland .   Over the years that  group of people has become a massively supportive network of artists students, teachers and supporters.  They publish stuff and have really made a huge difference to the artistic life and community in this country.  Kia Kaha Great South Artists network..  May many strong artists and teachers join your ranks!  From all over the country and indeed world!

In which area of visual arts are you involved?

I am a visual artist with painting as my main concern.  I work pretty much full time as an artist. I suppliment my income with teaching art from time to time.  I am a communicator and travel to different locations and  do workshops every so often on a variety of things..including how we contextualize our art.  Life drawing, and working as a diarist with watercolour.  I like helping people sort out their best ideas and then work on a steady plan to implement doable exhibitions and exploits.

About Me

Hello! I'm a realist artist mostly, working in soft pastel or oil, sometimes acrylic, or charcoal, plus oil mono-prints when I have a spare moment.

I'm currently living in Wanganui, working daily as a full-time artist, (since 2001). I've been drawing or painting since I could hold a crayon. I have a Diploma (Honours) in Art & Creativity, but really I just practise my skills daily, and study the work of artists I admire. I teach workshops regularly, Summer Schools and Winterschools, plus some evenings and weekends, and travel to teach nationally when I can fit it in.

A growing series of my work is published as prints by the Image Vault, in the NZ stockman genre. From this has been created a set of placemats & coasters by Jasons, available throughout NZ and Australia.

I've won many awards over the years, which is a thrill, but the biggest thrill I get is when I see people really relating to my paintings, and when a pupil really gets what I'm trying to teach - that light-bulb moment!
